　今日の昼の時間に「タモトユリタイム」がありました。各委員会の委員長から今月の反省と来月の目標を発表してもらいました。学習委員会からは「本のスタンプラリー」について,緑化委員会からは「来月の地域花植え」について健康委員会からは「チャレンジかごしま」についての発表がありました。

Today after the afternoon recess, our students met for a student committee meeting. At the meeting the president of each committee presented their impressions of the previous month, and their goals for the next month. The academic committee talked about its book stamp relay, the greening committee talked about this month's flower planting event, and the health committee talked about Challenge Kagoshima.

　放課後は今年度初めての「エイサー」がありました。行事等が重なりなかなか今年度はできなかったので児童生徒も今日を心待ちにしていたようです。

Afterschool, the students had the first Eisa practice of the school year. Since they had not been able to practice for a really long time, the students really looked forward to it.

今日の朝は,全校朝会がありました。全校朝会では来週から行われる「集合学習」の出発式を行いました。出発式では,今回参加する５・６年生５名から目標の発表をしてもらいました。「集合学習を通してたくさんの友だちを作りたい。」「６年生として全体を引っ張って行動していきたい。」などの抱負を発表してくれました。集合学習を通して１つでも多くのとを学び,そのことをみんなに伝えてほしいと思います。場所を提供してくださる中之島小中学校のみなさん,そして一緒に学習をする十島村の小中学校のみなさんよろしくお願いします。

This morning we had a morning assembly. During the assembly, the fifth and sixth graders presented their goals for their upcoming school trip. They all want to follow the rules of the trip, and make many friends. This trip is going to be a great opportunity to meet their peers from other islands, and learn many new things. We would like to thank everyone on Nakanoshima in advance for hosting the school trip!

最近，苗の植え替えにしっかり取り組んでいます。朝の活動や掃除の時にみんなで協力をして，できるだけたくさんの苗を植えています。苗を全部植えて，花が成長して咲くのを楽しみにしています。

Recently we have been working on planting our seedlings. We have taken time during the morning activity and the cleaning time to plants as many seedlings as we can. We are excited to plant them all, and watch them grown and bloom.

　今日は今年度最初の研究授業がありました。中学部のR先生が数学の授業をしてくれました。今回は「式の利用」についての学習を行いました。また今回の研究授業は,TV会議を用いて十島村の他の小中学校や委員会の方々にも参観していただきました。いつもとは違う雰囲気の中での授業となりましたが,生徒同士お互いに意見を共有しながらの主体的な授業になったのではないでしょうか。

Today we held the first research class of the year. Today, the teachers spectated teacher R's nineth grade math class. The class was on how to use equations. We also used the TV conference system to broadcast the class to several of the other islands, as well as to the board of education. It was a different learning environment from normal, but the students did a good job tackling the individual work, as well as presenting their thoughts and opinions.

３時間目に５・６年生の七島集合学習顔合わせ会（TV会議）がありました。

いよいよ１週間後に迫った集合学習。「他の島のみんなと友達になりたい！」という思いで会に参加しました。「つながりを探そうゲーム」では，６年生のKさんは「いつ自分が当てられるのかが分からなくて，とても緊張しました。」と，その時の思いを話してくれました。５年生のHさんは「初めは緊張していたけれど，いつの間にか楽しくなっていました。」と，充実した時間を過ごすことができたようです。

無事に全島２３人の５・６年生がつながることができ，集合学習への気持ちが高まりました。

Today during third period, the fifth and sixth grade school trip introduction meeting was held. Their school trip is almost here, with just a week left before they depart. They were very excited to meet the students from the other islands today. During one of the ice breakers, one of our sixth graders was really nervous, not knowing when they would be called on. One of the fifth graders reported that they were really nervous at first, but had a great time. We think they really made the most of the meeting. We were able to connect with all twenty-three students today, making us more excited for the school trip.

　今日の朝活動は,サッカーを行いました。運動量を確保するため３人１チームに分かれてテンポ良く試合を進めていきました。朝活動では健康委員会が中心となり毎日何をするのかを月ごとに決めています。これからも楽しく朝の活動に取り組んでいきたいと思います。

For today's morning activity, the students played soccer. Everyone was split into three teams, and after each goal, the playing teams would rotate to keep the all the students in motion. Our school's wellness committee plans what our students do for the morning activities every month. They hope to plan more fun activities for our students to enjoy.

　今日の給食は「お弁当給食」でした。雨のため学校内での食事となりましたが,「次はどこへ行こうかな？」とみんなで話し合いをすすめていました。次は晴れて外で食べられることを楽しみにしています。

Today's lunch was a bento box. Because of the rainy weather, everyone had to eat inside. But during the lunch, everyone talked about where we should go for the next bento lunch. We hope the weather is better next time, so we can enjoy lunch outside.

　朝の活動は緑化活動でした。小型の耕耘機が先月から修理中のため,しばらく使われていなかった中型の耕耘機を使いました。数年使われておらずエンジンのかけかたも分からない状態からでしたが,協力をして動かせるようになりました。苗の植え替えに向けてしっかりと準備を進めていきたいと思います。

For today's morning activity, we had gardening. Since our small tiller is being worked on, today we used our bigger tiller to cultivate the flower beds. Since it hasn't been used for a long time, no one really know how to start it. But we put our heads together, and managed to get it to start. We are now prepping our flower seedlings, and we hope to start planting them soon.

今日の６時間目に中１・２年生はかぼちゃの苗を植えました。最近風がとても強かったせいで，４月に植えたさつまいもが何本か飛ばされてしまいました。しかし飛ばされたさつまいもが畝の周りにあったので苗を集めて，もう一度植えました。

Today during sixth period, our seventh and eighth graders planted some pumpkins. Recently the winds have been really strong on our island, causing some of our previously planted sweet potatoes to be blown away. But we noticed that some have continued to grow in different places! So, we gathered them, and replanted them together with the rest of the sweet potatoes.

　今日の２時間目の理科で「吸う空気とはく空気」を調べる実験を行いました。お互いに実験前に予想を立てました。気体検知管は前の実験でも使ったので自分たちで進めることができました。最後には,実験の結果から考察までを出し,お互いに話し合いをするところまで学習を進めることができました。今後も２人で協力しながら楽しく授業を進めていきたいと思います。

　中学生は５・６時間目の美術の時間にスケッチ大会の作品の続きを行いました。下書きを終わらせ今日から色塗りに入りました。どんな作品になるのか今から楽しみです。

For today's science class, the sixth graders conducted an experiment to find out the difference between the air we breathe, and the air we exhale. Each student first wrote their expectations. Since they had used the gas detector before, they were able to conduct the experiment on their own. They were also able to take the results from their experiments, and talk about them with each other. They both enjoyed conducting the experiment today.

　Today, the middle schoolers worked on their sketch event pieces during fifth and sixth period. They finished outlining their scenes, and started painting today. We are all excited to see their finished works.

今日の２・３時間目に「たけのこ採り」に行きました。島民のCさんに協力していただき山に行きました。道は危険な箇所も多くほとんどの児童生徒・職員が初めての行事だったため,４グループに分かれて行いました。目的地に着くと竹やぶをかき分け一生懸命みんなでたけのこを探しました。「あっちにあるよ。」「こっちにたくさんある。」と宝探しをしているような気分で楽しく採ることができました。今日採れた,たけのこを家で食べるのを楽しみにしているようです。

During second and third period, we held our bamboo sprout harvest event, thanks to the help from Mr. C. Due to the path having many dangerous areas, and it being the first time for many of our students and teachers, we split up into four groups. When we made it to the picking area, everyone tried their best to push their way through the bamboo to find the sprouts. It was like a scene from a treasure hunt. We are sure everyone is excited to eat the bamboo sprouts we picked today.

　今日は５年生の社会の紹介をします。「国土の地形の特色」の学習で,それぞれ国内の山脈や川,火山について調べてまとめました。同じ川でも長さや面積の大きさをランキングにしたり,日本にある川や山脈をまとめたりとそれぞれ自分が興味を持ったものを調べました。

Today we would like to introduce what our fifth-graders have been working on in their social studies class. They have looked up the mountain ranges, rivers, and volcanoes in Japan. They have ranked the rivers based on length, and total area, and have looked up different things about Japan which they are interested in.

３時間目には小中合同体育で「ポートボール」を行いました。小中合同体育ということでルールを工夫したり,場の工夫などをしてみんなが楽しみ活躍できる授業を目指しています。

Today for third period, the students had a joint P.E. class. Today they played port ball. Since all the grades are playing together, the students came up with different rules to accommodate all the grades to make sure everyone has a good time playing.

　今日の３時間目に６年生の理科で「だ液がでんぷんを変化させるか？」の実験を行いました。自分たちで実験の流れを確認,準備をして取組むことができました。また結果からの考察まで時間内にスムーズにできました。今日の結果と考察をもとにさらに学びを深めていきたいと思います。

Today during their third period, the sixth graders conducted an experiment to see what effect saliva has on tempura. They came up with the procedure, and tackled the set up all on their own. On top of that, they finished the experiment, writing down the results within the given time. We would like to use today's results to further deepen their knowledge.

　今日は小中別朝会がありました。今日は中学１年生のNさんと２年生のYさんが「かごしまの教育」県民週間で作った標語の発表をしてくれました。

「地域の方々の思いは　きっと私たちの　未来の糧になる」

「ありがとう　地域から始まる　笑顔の学校」という標語をそれぞれ作った際の想いを説明しながら話をしてくれました。今日の発表は２人でしたが,それぞれが素晴らしい標語を作ってくれました。

Today our two schools had separate morning assemblies. For the middle school assembly, our seventh and eighth graders presented slogans they came up with in their Japanese classes. Both students wrote about their appreciation for the islanders, and everything they do for the students. After presenting their slogans, they explained their thought processes, and the meaning behind their words. They definitely put in a lot of work and thought into their slogans.

　今朝は今年度初めての「トカラ集会」がありました。担当校は悪石島でした。「対馬丸」についての〇×問題を出してくれました。

　その後は,スケッチ大会がありました。今年度は天候が心配されましたが,屋外で行うことができました。途中雨が降ってきてしまい学校へ戻りましたが,事前の図工や美術の時間で自分が描きたいところを選び,そこの風景を見ながらスケッチをしました。今年度から導入されたタブレットを用いて撮影をすることもできたので今後の授業で完成にむけてしっかりと進めていきたいと思います。

Today we had our first Tokara School Assembly of the school year. Today's host was Akusekijima's school. They quizzed everyone on the Tsushima Maru.

After, we held our sketch event. However due to bad weather, our students were only able to draw outside half the time. They had decided what they wanted to draw beforehand, and today they set out to start their drawings. They also put to good use the tablets that the school received this year to take photos of their desired subject. They will use these photos to finish up their drawings in their art classes.

　５年生は社会の学習で「国土」について学んでいます。今日は単元のまとめとして,自分たちで作ったオリジナルのテストを行いました。教科書や地図帳を使って解く問題や自分の力だけで解く問題などを用意し,お互いに解いていました。また「口之島からの挑戦状」として以前本校に勤めていた先生の学級にも送りました。今後もこういった交流をしていければと思います。

　今年度は国旗の暗記にも挑戦しています。１週間で５カ国をノルマとして１年間をかけて全１９７カ国に挑戦しています。中学１・２年生も一緒に取り組んでおり,小学生の３人は「中学生に勝つぞ！」と意気込んでいます。お互い高め合いながら,これからも学習を進めていきたいと思います。

The fifth graders are learning countries in their social studies class. Today, as a review, the students took a small quiz of questions they created themselves. Using their textbooks and atlases, they tackled the quiz.

This year, our students are also working on memorizing every national flag. They are learning five flags a week, with the goal to memorize all one hundred and ninety-seven flags. The fifth, seventh, and eight graders are all taking on the challenge. We hope they keep each other motivated, and continue studying hard.

　ゴールデンウィークの初日２９日に子ども会レクを行いました。昨年度に続き今年度も子ども会キャンプが新型コロナウイルス対策のため行うことができなかったため,レクを行いました。児童生徒会で考えた,「ボール当てゲーム」・「The口之島」・「宝探し」を行いました。保護者の方やくちっこ園の子たちも一緒に行い普段の朝活動や休み時間とはまた違った雰囲気で楽しむことができたのではないでしょうか。

　新型コロナウイルスの影響もあり,全児童生徒が連休を島内で過ごしました。ただ,島にいるからできる交流や遊びもできたと思います。８日（土）にはスケッチ大会,１７日（月）にはたけのこ取りを予定しています。みんなでたくさんの行事を楽しんでいきましょう。

On the first day of Golden Week, we held a student recreation. Due to Covid-19, we couldn't have our camping event, but we were able to have a recreation day. Our students decided on what to play: a ball kicking game, The Kuchinoshima, and a treasure hunt. The parents, and the preschool staff also came out to join the fun.

Due to Covid-19, all our students spent their Golden Week on Kuchinoshima. Since they were all here, they were able to play with each other during the break. This month, we have our sketch event on the eighth, and our bamboo harvest on the seventeenth. We are all looking forward to the upcoming events.
