中学部は,今日の２時間目の道徳の時間に平島と道徳の合同授業を行いました。内容は「東京オリンピック」の男子走り高跳びの金メダルを分け合った２人をテーマに自分ならどうするかについて行いました。TV会議を通して普段とは違う環境で緊張している様子でしたが,自分の意見をしっかりと言えたのではないでしょうか。今日一緒に授業をしてくれた平島のみなさんありがとうございました。
Our junior high school students ,during their second period class, had class with the Tairajima students. For today's session , we studied about high jump at the Tokyo Olympics. We thought about what we would do with the gold medal you shared. Thank you for the precious experience for our students!
今日は文化祭の英語劇の紹介です。今年度は小中学生１０人で「わらしべ長者」の英語劇を,ALTのB先生・養護教諭のY先生の指導の元,行いました。長い文章や,難しい単語等もあり最初はつまずくこともありましたが,毎日の練習のおかげで日に日に上達していきました。本番では全員がスラスラと台詞を言うことができました。今回覚えた英文や単語をこれからの学習に活かしていってほしいと思います。
Today we would like to showcase the school play from the Culture Festival. For this year's school play, all ten of our students worked together to perform a play in English called "The Rich Straw Man." With instruction from the ALT, and the school nurse, they all learned how to say their lines. Our students had a hard time at first with the long lines, and difficult words. But they practiced hard every day, and vastly improved. And on the day of, they were all able to say their lines smoothly. We hope they can put to good use the many English phrases they learned through this experience.
昨日の５時間目に小学５・６年生の研究授業がありました。５年生は「敬語」６年生は「大切にしたい言葉」についての授業を担任のK先生が行ってくれました。５年生は学習した敬語を先生方に実践しました。６年生はタブレットを使って,発表を行いました。緊張した中だったかとは思いますが,学んだことを一生懸命に発表していました。
Yesterday during fifth period, we held a research class for teacher K's fifth and sixth grade Japanese class. The fifth graders learned about the polite verb forms, and the sixth grades discussed about words and phrases they value. The fifth graders used the forms they learned with the teachers in the class. The sixth graders used tablets to present their writings. Even though the students might have been nervous, they presented what they learned well.
１０月２３日（土）に第３３回口之島文化祭がありました。日頃の練習の成果を保護者や島民の方に見て頂きました。今年度はオンラインでの配信も行い県外に住む実親さんにも参観をしていただきました。詳細は運動会の時同様プログラムごとに紹介していきたいと思います。
On Saturday 23rd, we had our 33rd annual Culture Festival. We showed the results of all our hard work to the parents and islanders. We streamed the show online so that the parents living outside the island could watch. Just like Sports Day, we will post individual blogs for each of the presentations.
今日の５・６時間目に文化祭の準備を行いました。いよいよ明日が本番です。今までの練習の成果を島民の方々に披露するのが今から楽しみです。また,中学３年生の２人にとっては口之島で行う最後の文化祭です。悔いの残らないよう取り組んでいきましょう。
Today during fifth and sixth period, we prepared the school gym for the Culture Festival. Everyone is excited to perform for the villagers. For the ninth graders, this is their last Culture Festival here on Kuchinoshima. Let's work hard to not have any regrets!
今日の３時間目に,児童生徒総会がありました。後期の児童生徒会役員,委員会組織の発表がありました。新児童生徒会長には中学２年のYさんが選ばれました。各委員会の委員長も新たに３名選出されました。より良い学校を目指してこれからも,色んなことに取り組んでいきたいと思います。
Today during third period, we had a student council meeting. At the meeting, the students announced the new structure for the committees for the second half of the school year. Our 8th grader, student Y, became the president of the student council. The new leaders of each committee were also announced. We hope our students work hard together to make an even better school.

今日の２・３時間目に文化祭の予行がありました。２３日（土）の本番に向けて各発表の確認をしました。実際にステージに立ってみないと分からないこともあったので本番ではリハーサルで確認したことを活かしていきましょう。今年の文化祭は,山海留学生の保護者の方にもLIVE配信をする予定です。お楽しみに！
今日の５時間目に文化祭の練習がありました。前半は劇の練習を行いました。今年度は全員で英語劇に挑戦をしています。難しい単語や文法を小学生も一生懸命覚えようとしています。明後日のリハーサルに向けてしっかりと準備を進めていきたいと思います。
Today we had practice for the Culture Festival during fifth period. For the first half, the students practiced for the school play. This year, we are challenging a play in English. All of our students have been working hard to memorize all the words and intonation. We are working hard to be ready for our rehearsal on Wednesday.

今日はリレーの紹介です。今年度は「ガチンコリレー」・「メドレーリレー」・「組対抗リレー」の３種目を行いました。どのレースも白熱しましたが圧巻だったのは白組の「ガチンコリレー」です。素晴らしいバトンワークで赤組の猛追を振り切りました。今年度取り入れたメドレーリレーでは,大人も真剣に縄跳びやドリブルを行いました。
リレーは運動会の花形種目の１つでもあるのでみんな一生懸命練習をし本番をむかえました。以上で運動会の紹介を終わります。来週末に控えている文化祭も素晴らしいものにしましょう。
今日はくちっこ園,空手,一般の部の紹介です。くちっこ園の徒競走では,Yさんは校長先生と競争をしました。予行の時は緊張した様子でしたが,本番はゴール目指して一直線に駆け抜けました。くちっこ園競技では「パンどろぼう」をテーマに３・４年生と競争しました。空手は今年度もコロナウイルスで十分な練習時間が取れなかった中でしたが,島民のYさんに教えて頂いた型を披露しました。一般の部では昨年度行った競技や今年度取り入れた新種目など児童生徒に負けじと,大人も本気で競技をしていた姿が印象的でした。
Today we would like to showcase the preschool, the Karate, and the general events from this year's Sports Day. This year the preschooler raced against the school principal. Then along with the third and fourth graders, they played a game of bread thief. This year, due to Covid-19, the students weren't able to practice Karate as much as normal, but they still put on a great performance. And in the general events, adults were able to join in on the fun, and compete against the students.
今日の１時間目～６時間目に高校説明会がありました。当初交流学習の中で行う予定でしたが，今年度は中止となったためTV会議システムを利用しての７島合同実施となりました。説明会では公立校・私立校合わせて６校に参加をして頂きました。説明会の中では本校のOBでもあるSくんも現在通っている高校の紹介をしてくれました。生徒たちにとって今日の説明会はとても貴重な経験になったのではないでしょうか。
Today was a full day of high school information sessions for our middle schoolers. They were held over the TV conference system. All seven of the islands participated in the sessions. Six high schools, both public and private, came together to talk to our students. We think this was a very valuable experience for them to learn about different high schools.

今日の運動会のハイライトは「応援団」です。昼休みや,休日を使って運動会本番のために各組練習を重ねてきました。中学３年生の団長２人を中心に,難しい動きや台詞の練習を行ってきました。本番では小学３年生から中学３年生まで,一人ひとりが,今出せる限りの大きな声で応援をしていたのが印象的でした。結果は一票差という僅差で赤組の勝利となりましたがどちらのチームも練習の成果を十分に発揮できたのではないでしょうか。
Today's Sports Day highlight comes from the cheering event. Our students practiced their cheering routines during their afternoon recess, and on the weekends. With our two ninth graders leading their respective teams, they practiced difficult movements, and their cheers. On Sports Day, all our students cheered the loudest they have so far. It was so impressive. The red team won the cheering competition, but only but a small margin, as both teams showed wonderful performances.
今日の運動会のハイライトは「一致団結in口之島」です。今年度は一輪車での演技に挑戦をしました。今年度は児童生徒の入れ替わりも激しくほとんどの児童生徒が０からのスタートとなりました。最初の方の練習では一輪車に乗っての動きの確認ができず,歩きながら確認をしていました。「このままでできるのかな？」と不安になった児童生徒もいたのではないでしょうか。その中でもあきらめず,一生懸命練習を重ねてきました。今日ビデオを確認し振り返りを行いましたが,「ここが良かった！」「来年はこうしたい！」などの感想が聞けました。本当に素晴らしい本番に向けての取り組み,演技になったと思います。
Today's highlight from this year's Sports Day comes from the unicycle performance our students gave. Many of our students began practicing how to ride a unicycle for the first time here at our school. When we first started practicing for the performance, many of our students were struggling to ride a unicycle well enough to go through all the movements. But our students didn't give up, and continued to practice hard. Today our students watched a video of their performance, and reflected on their experience. It was a great performance, and we are proud of our students.
今日の６時間目の社会の時間に,リモート社会科見学をしました。今回はトヨタ自動車九州の宮田工場を見学させていただきました。初めての試みということで今日の社会科見学をみんな楽しみにしていました。車の製造過程や工場について丁寧に説明をして頂いたり,児童生徒の質問に現場のスタッフを交えながら答えて頂きました。コロナの影響で,離島だからという理由で今まで難しかった社会科見学がトヨタ自動車さんの画期的な取り組みによって実現しました。貴重な経験をありがとうございました！
For today's sixth period, we held an educational 'field trip'. Due to Covid-19, it has become difficult for students to visit companies, and learn about them. So, for today's lesson, Toyota Motor Kyushu Co., Ltd. Miyata factory gave a presentation to our students via Zoom. Everyone was very excited for the presentation. They talk about the company itself, and about the car making process. Then, they gave our students the opportunity to ask questions. We are very grateful to the Toyota factory for working with us to offer this remote presentation to our students. Thank you for the precious experience for our students!
１０月２日（土）に第７３回口之島大運動会が行われました。競技の部では,白組が応援の部では赤組が勝利という結果となりました。これからは盛り上がった各競技をいくつかの投稿に分けて紹介していこうと思います。今日はチームと学級ごとの写真です。明日からは「応援団」・「一輪車」・「リレー」・「一般競技」など細かく分けて児童生徒や園児,島民・職員の活躍を紹介していきたいと思います。
Our 73rd annual Sports Day was held this past Saturday, on October second. First, we would like to announce the results. The white team won the events competition category, and the red team won the cheering competition category. Starting today, we want to share many of the exciting moments from this year's event. For today's post, we would like to share photos of the two teams, and of each grade level. Then starting tomorrow, we will post about the cheering events, the unicycle performance, the relays, and the general competitions.
